The musical direction came together from live sessions first with Abe and Jair-Rohm, recording and performing live at several venues as a duo. John King came in and set up a performance at Spectrum NYC and then into the studio we went, adding Robert Levin on hand drums.

Born Into Flames

Jair-Rôhm Parker Wells is an American Free improvisation bassist (bass guitar and electric upright bass), composer and conceptualist. He resided in Stockholm, Sweden from 1985 until 2010. Presently residing in Bangkok, Thailand, he has been active internationally as a promoter of improvised and experimental music performing and recording extensively. A founding member of the improvising band Machine Gun, he has performed and/or collaborated with: Bob Belden, Karl Berger, Daniel Carter, Jaron Lanier, John Sinclair, The Sun Ra Arkestra and Tony Scott among others.

John King,- Composer and guitarist, has presented his unique style of composed and improvisational music in many major festivals worldwide. John King has composed for orchestra, chamber ensembles, rock bands, dance, film and theater. He has had many working bands over the last 5 years including ELECTRIC WORLD (with Abe Speller, Jean Chaine and David Moss), VIBROVERB (with Nioka Workman and Michael Wimberly), and KING KORTETTE (Jonathan Kane, Nicki Parrott and Christopher McIntyre), all blues/funk/jazz based; and also performed with : William Parker's "Little Huey Creative Orchestra" and Butch Morris' "Conduction" Orchestra. His commissions and collaborations include those for the Kronos Quartet, Bang On A Can All-Stars and the string quartet ETHEL.

Abe Speller – Drums & Percussion, has been performing and recording with some of the top artist around the globe. Abe has collaborated with free-jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock (Seize The Rainbow, Live In New York & Highlife) keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith, organist Charles Earland (Odyssey & The Great Pyramid) John King's Electric World (Hot Thumb In A Funky Groove & Love Is Life) guitarist Jon Herington (Like So) John McCracken (Blood From A Tone) Emmett Chapman (the Chapman Stick) Phoebe Snow, Danish singer Kim Larsen (Jungle Dreams & Time Bomb) Pat Benetar, bassist Alex Blake Especially For You) & Jamaaladeen Tacuma.

Robert Levin - gboba, apentema, operenten, gankogui, axatse. lunna, gungon. A specialist in traditional West African music, Robert is a performer, composer and teacher. He has spent much time in Ghana, West Africa, studying drumming, singing and dancing with his teacher Godwin Agbeli, Levin also founded a public elementary and junior high school in a farming village in southeastern Ghana in 1988, and has been building and supporting it ever since, visit www.kgsf.org . These days - and since the show opened in 1997 - he performs regularly on Broadway in The Lion King.
